Android
The phone itself does the sending. The app keeps a secure connection open and texts through Android’s own SMS service, from your SIM. Android 8 or newer.
Signed APK · GitHub Releases · Obtainium
Pocketwire gives Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other AI agents a safe, audited line to your phone. Ask for a text in chat, tap Send when your phone asks, and it goes out from your number, on your own plan.
Works with
How it works
Pair a phone or a computer, connect your AI app, and approve texts as they come in. No phone numbers to rent, no API keys to paste.
Install the Android app, or the desktop Bridge on a Mac, Windows or Linux computer. Enter the 8-character code from your dashboard and the device is linked to your account.
Add Pocketwire to Claude or any MCP client with one URL. Sign in and approve exactly what it may do: see your devices, send texts, check their status.
When your agent wants to text, you see the number and the full message: on your Android phone, or in the dashboard for desktop setups. Tap Send or Reject. Either way, it lands in your activity log.
Platforms
Android phones send texts themselves. iPhone users go through a Mac. Windows and Linux use KDE Connect with an Android phone.

The desktop Bridge drives Messages on your Mac, which sends SMS through your iPhone with Text Message Forwarding, or as iMessage. You approve texts in the dashboard.

Pocketwire speaks MCP over HTTPS with OAuth sign-in. Paste one URL into your AI app’s connector settings and approve access. Your agent gets four clearly described tools and nothing else.
Streamable HTTP · OAuth 2.1 · PKCE
An iPhone on its own can’t do this. iOS doesn’t let any app send a text in the background, so iPhone users need a Mac running the Bridge. We’d rather tell you now than after you sign up.
Safety first
An agent can misread a request, or be tricked by a web page or an email. Pocketwire assumes that will happen, and keeps you and hard limits between the agent and your contacts.
New accounts ask before every single text. You see the number and the exact words, then tap Send or Reject. Requests nobody answers expire after 10 minutes. On Pro and Team you can let trusted contacts send without asking.
Caps per minute, day and month, plus a daily cap on numbers you’ve never texted before. Short codes are refused outright.
Pause all sending from the dashboard or the Android app. While paused, every request is refused.
Every request is recorded: which app asked, which tool, the recipient, the status and when.
The log keeps the recipient, length, a SHA-256 fingerprint and the status. The text itself is deleted once it’s sent, unless you turn on history.
AI apps sign in with OAuth and get only the access you approve on the consent screen. Disconnect any app from the dashboard in one click.
Pocketwire is not end-to-end encrypted. Your AI app sends each message to our server in an ordinary MCP tool call, so the server sees it while passing it on to your phone. Every hop uses TLS 1.3, recipients are encrypted at rest, and message text isn’t stored unless you ask for history. Want no third party in the path at all? Run it yourself.

Yes, through a Mac. iOS doesn’t let any app send a text in the background, so Pocketwire can’t run on the iPhone itself. Instead, the desktop Bridge on your Mac uses the Messages app, which sends SMS through your iPhone with Text Message Forwarding, or sends iMessage. Your Mac needs to be awake and signed in to Messages, and you approve these texts in the dashboard.
We’re exploring an iPhone app that hands you a pre-filled message to send yourself. There’s no date for it yet.
Not yet. Google Play allows only a few kinds of apps to send SMS and reviews each one, and we’re working on that. Meanwhile you install the signed APK from GitHub Releases, and Obtainium can keep it up to date for you. It needs Android 8 or newer.
Nothing extra from us. Texts go out from your own SIM on your own mobile plan, so your carrier’s usual rates apply, and many plans include texts. Pocketwire never charges per text. Plans differ in devices, monthly messages and features; see pricing.
Your account, your paired devices, your settings, and a log of each request: which app asked, the recipient, the length, a SHA-256 fingerprint of the text, the status and the times. Recipients are encrypted at rest. The text itself is deleted once the message is sent, unless you turn on message history. We don’t sell data. The privacy policy has the details.
No, and we’d rather say so clearly. Your AI app sends each message to our server as part of an MCP tool call, so the server has to see it to pass it on to your phone. It travels over TLS 1.3 on every hop and isn’t kept afterwards unless you ask for history. If you need more, self-host.
Yes. Pocketwire Cloud is one container and one SQLite file. Run docker compose up on your own server, point your devices and AI apps at it, and nothing passes through us. The self-hosting guide walks you through it, and for support or volume plans, talk to us.
Anything that can use a remote MCP server with OAuth sign-in: Claude as a custom connector, Claude Duet, Claude Code, ChatGPT where your plan supports custom connectors, Cursor, and agents you build yourself. You add https://pocketwire.app/mcp once and sign in.
No. Pocketwire only sends. It can’t read your inbox, the replies you get or any one-time codes, and there’s no tool for texting a list of people at once.
Free for one device, set up in a few minutes. By default, nothing goes out until you tap Send.
